The Israeli army issued a statement on Sunday following the injury of a UNIFIL member in southern Lebanon due to a bomb explosion near a peacekeeping site.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said via X: “Yesterday, army forces acted to repel suspects who tried to rebuild Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in Kfarkela, southern Lebanon, by throwing a hand grenade. Subsequently, UNIFIL forces reported through military liaison that one of their members was injured as a result of the grenade attack.”

He announced that “the incident was investigated and safety protocols during raids near UNIFIL sites were confirmed,” adding: “In addition, the army will continue to act against Hezbollah’s positioning and activities that pose a threat to the State of Israel.”

Adraee concluded by saying: “The Israeli army confirms it is working against attempts to restore Hezbollah’s military infrastructure, which violate the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, while clearly distinguishing these from UNIFIL’s activities.”
