On Wednesday morning, several patients at the Tebourba City Primary Health Center expressed their strong frustration and anger over the absence of chronic disease doctors (diabetes and hypertension) without prior notice, whether days before or on the morning of their treatment registration.

According to officials at the Tebourba Primary Health Center, the two chronic disease doctors joined the Regional Health Directorate in Manouba to report and protest against the unsuitable working conditions in the old building of the health center. They considered the building a threat to the safety of patients and staff, including doctors, nurses, and workers, due to its risk of collapse and the impossibility of working in the section allocated for clinics, which lacks adequate space and accessible entrances for people with disabilities.

Some local officials and health aides considered these reasons weak and causing disruption to patient treatment, especially in the absence of any official expert report confirming the building’s risk of collapse.

A number of patients went to the Tebourba district office to raise the issue with the Tebourba delegate, who promptly contacted the relevant health authorities to find a solution and ensure patients receive their treatment and medications on time, which was the maximum possible intervention in this case.

The patients then gathered again in the health center demanding the presence of the Tebourba hospital director, who arrived on site accompanied by the head of the emergency department, who volunteered to work and examine patients. The patients were organized in two air-conditioned waiting rooms.
