The internal regulations of the Senate issued by Law No. 2 of 2021 specify the rules governing the formation and mechanisms of the General Committee of the Senate as follows:

Article 26

The General Committee is formed at the beginning of each ordinary annual session, chaired by the President of the Council and composed of:

First: The two deputies.

Second: The chairpersons of the specialized committees.

Third: Representatives of parliamentary bodies for each political party that has obtained three seats or more.

Fourth: Five members chosen by the Council’s office, provided that at least one member is independent if the number of independent members in the Council is five or more.

The minister responsible for parliamentary affairs is invited to attend the committee meetings when discussing the matters stated in Article 28 of these regulations.

Article 27

The President of the Council calls the General Committee to meet, sets its agenda, manages its discussions, and announces the end of its meetings, decisions, and recommendations.

The committee holds a regular meeting at least once every month during the session, and the President of the Council may call for an extraordinary meeting.

A meeting is not valid unless the majority of its members are present.

Decisions are issued by an absolute majority of the votes of those present, and in the event of a tie, the side of the president prevails.

Brief minutes of the committee meetings are recorded, and the President of the Council may order their printing and publication in a manner he deems appropriate.

The committee sets other rules organizing its work based on the proposal of the President of the Council.

The National Elections Authority will hold a conference the day after tomorrow, Tuesday, to announce the results of the 2025 Senate elections in the first round, which were held on August 1 and 2 for Egyptians abroad, and on August 4 and 5 domestically.
