President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a decree appointing 9 party leaders to the Senate, out of 100 members he has the right to appoint.

According to Al-Shorouk, the President appointed Abdel-Samad Yamama, head of the Wafd Party; Al-Sayed Abdel Aal, head of the Tagammu Party; Hazem Omar, head of the Republican People’s Party; Basel Adel, head of the Awareness Party; Hussein Abu El-Atta, head of the Egyptians Party; Ahmed Esmat Abdel Hakim Al-Sadat, known as Efat Al-Sadat, head of the Sadat Democratic Party; Essam Khalil, head of the Free Egyptians Party; Mohamed Abu El-Ala, head of the Nasserist Party; and Naji Al-Shehabi, head of the Democratic Generation Party.

Al-Sayed Abdel Aal, head of the Tagammu Party, said the clear diversity in the list of Senate appointees confirms the President’s keenness to enrich parliamentary life and enhance the participation of all political currents in decision-making.

He added to Al-Shorouk that appointing leaders from diverse political and intellectual backgrounds within parliament consolidates the principle of effective pluralism and affirms the pivotal role of the Senate as a second parliamentary chamber alongside the House of Representatives in improving legislative performance and deeply studying important laws.

Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Ala, head of the Arab Democratic Nasserist Party, said his appointment as a Senate member is an appreciation of the entire party, adding: “The appointment decision indicates the party’s role and its position in the Egyptian state.”

Abu El-Ala confirmed to Al-Shorouk his eagerness to achieve what the Egyptian people aspire to in the coming period within the successful Arab Nasserist project, all under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

MP Essam Khalil, head of the Free Egyptians Party, expressed his sincere thanks to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his precious trust and decision to appoint him as a Senate member.

In a statement, the head of the Free Egyptians Party said this presidential trust is a badge of honor and a strong motivation to continue sincere national work under the political leadership, noting that the party’s members and leaders will always be up to the responsibility of serving the new republic.

Meanwhile, Naji Al-Shehabi, head of the Democratic Generation Party, thanked President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for this precious trust, affirming his continued defense of the country’s national security.

Al-Shehabi told Al-Shorouk that he promises the President to exert more effort for the homeland.

Basel Adel, head of the Awareness Party, also thanked President El-Sisi for appointing him as a Senate member.

Adel told Al-Shorouk that his appointment crowns the journey of the Awareness Party since its establishment and appreciates the party’s efforts during the past period, which included holding dialogue sessions on draft laws submitted by the government to the House of Representatives during the last session, including the labor law, medical responsibility, criminal procedures, and others, in the presence of deputies, party leaders, unionists, and experts.

Abdel-Samad Yamama, head of the Wafd Party, said he will be keen to serve citizens in the coming period, thanking President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The Wafd Party leader confirmed that he was surprised by the President’s decision to appoint him as a Senate member, saying: “I was surprised by my appointment as a Senate member.”
