The General Department of Juvenile Care Investigations within the Specialized Police Sector succeeded in arresting 11 men and 10 women – 15 of whom have prior criminal records – for exploiting juvenile children in begging, persistently soliciting passersby, and selling goods aggressively in the police districts of Nasr City First, Nasr City Second, Nasr City Third, and Al-Nozha in Cairo.
They were found accompanied by 26 children at risk, who were engaged in aggressive selling and begging. Upon confrontation, the suspects admitted to their criminal activities.
Legal procedures were taken, and the suspects were referred to the public prosecution for investigation. The victims were handed over to their guardians after taking necessary pledges for their proper care.
Coordination was also made with relevant authorities to take necessary measures to place those children whose guardians could not be reached in care homes.
