Major General Mohamed El-Zamlout, Governor of the New Valley, announced the seizure of nearly half a ton of dates unfit for human consumption. This was part of an inspection campaign carried out by the regional branch of the Consumer Protection Agency in coordination with the Supply, Internal Trade, and Health Directorates. The governor confirmed that the campaign is part of efforts to tighten market monitoring and ensure the safety and health of citizens. The incident resulted in the filing of an economic misdemeanor report, which will be presented to the public prosecution to complete legal procedures. The Consumer Protection Agency branch also urged citizens to immediately report any violations or price gouging, emphasizing the continuation of inspection campaigns to control markets and deter offenders.
