The Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade in Alexandria successfully caught a butcher who tampered with slaughterhouse seals on meat in an attempt to commit commercial fraud and deceive consumers. This was part of intensified market inspections to protect citizens and ensure the safety of food products.
Details of the Supply Campaign
Engineer Gamal Ammar, Deputy Minister of Supply and Internal Trade in Alexandria, confirmed that the campaign carried out by the East Supply Department in cooperation with the Consumer Protection Agency resulted in the seizure of a butcher shop selling adulterated local meat. It was found that the butcher offered veal meat whose slaughter was prohibited and placed red stamps on the meat to falsely indicate government slaughterhouse certification. The campaign led to the confiscation of 20 kilograms of the violating veal meat.
Seizure of Pastrami with Fake Production Date
The campaign also seized a supermarket selling adulterated food products, where 8 pieces of pastrami weighing a total of 8.4 kilograms were found with a production date falsely marked as December 21, 2025, which is a clear manipulation to harm consumers.
Legal Measures and Ongoing Campaigns
The deputy minister explained that all legal measures were taken against the violators, emphasizing that supply campaigns will continue intensively across the governorate to combat commercial fraud and ensure the delivery of safe and sound food to citizens.
