The Washington Post revealed today (Sunday) plans by President Donald Trump’s administration to manage the Gaza Strip and relocate its residents to safe areas, confirming that the administration plans to move some Gaza residents to secured areas within the Strip.
The plan includes the full resettlement of Gaza’s population, with Trump’s administration aiming to transform Gaza into a tourist hub under American guardianship for 10 years.
The newspaper stated that the US administration will establish a trust fund to resettle Gaza residents both abroad and internally. The 38-page plan involves at least temporary relocation of all Gaza residents, numbering over two million, either through what it described as voluntary departure to another country or to restricted and secured areas within the Strip during reconstruction.
The paper reported that the trust fund for landowners will provide a digital token in exchange for redevelopment rights of their properties, to be used to finance a new life elsewhere outside Gaza or eventually exchanged for an apartment in one of 6 to 8 new AI-supported smart cities to be built in Gaza.
The emergency Arab summit in Cairo had announced its rejection of all plans to displace Palestinians from Gaza, affirming its readiness to form a non-factional committee to manage Gaza for six months under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority.
The final statement called for sending UN peacekeeping forces to Gaza and the West Bank.
