In the first half, shortly before Ferran scored Barcelona’s second goal, Mallorca’s captain Raíola fell to the ground after being hit in the head by the ball. According to the head injury protocol, Mallorca players expected the referee to stop the game, but he did not. Ferran Torres continued the attack and scored with a shot from outside the penalty area. After the match, Raíola discussed the incident and the referee’s decision to allow play to continue. The defender said, “I fell to the ground, felt dizzy, and tried to stand up but couldn’t.” He added, “Ferran’s shot came and the goal was awarded. The referee did not explain this to us. I don’t know why the match wasn’t stopped. I don’t know if it was the referee’s mistake.
But if this is the rule, the goal shouldn’t count.” He continued, “The referee asked me if I felt dizzy. I think the match should have been stopped.”
