In its latest innovation in the wearable devices world, Google unveiled its new smartwatch Pixel Watch 4, considered one of the most elegant watches on the market thanks to its curved glass design, larger screen, and slimmer bezels. However, the real surprise this time lies not in the watch itself but in the new charger that completely redefines the user experience.

Previous versions of Google’s watch relied on a wireless charging base, which provided ease of use but suffered from slow charging and poor battery life. In the second and third generations, the company switched to a charging base that used metal pins to increase charging speed, but the high precision required for connection made it difficult and impractical to use, as the watch had to be placed at a very specific angle to work, causing user frustration.

The Pixel Watch 4 fixes all these issues with a completely new charging base that abandons pins in favor of a simple side contact system allowing easy and secure placement of the watch. The charger also positions the screen vertically during charging, turning the watch into a small desk clock that can display the time while recharging.

Although the new charger still comes with an integrated cable instead of a detachable USB-C port, its smart design prevents any confusion about the correct orientation for installation and reduces the risk of damage or errors during charging.

The most notable improvement is in charging speed; tests showed that the Pixel Watch 4 reaches 94% of its battery capacity within just 30 minutes, while the Pixel Watch 3 only reaches 58% in the same time and requires over an hour to exceed 85%. Thus, the new charger nearly halves the charging time.

Thanks to this speed and battery improvements, users can rely on the watch for up to two and a half days of continuous use, even with the Always-on Display feature enabled.

Tech experts see this improvement, despite its simplicity, as a fundamental step in making the watch experience more comfortable, especially for those who depend on it for fitness tracking, health monitoring, or quick daily tasks. Simply placing it on the charger while having coffee is enough to fully charge it before leaving the house.

While this change is not revolutionary in the traditional sense, it proves that small improvements can make a big difference in user experience, making the Pixel Watch 4 a watch that combines beautiful design and ease of performance in a way previous generations did not achieve.
