US Senator Joe Wilson, a member of the Senate, affirmed that the time has come to fully repeal the Caesar Act imposed on Syria, considering it a priority for President Donald Trump’s administration. Wilson stated on the platform X: “My visit to Syria was particularly meaningful, and I am grateful for the warm reception. It is time to fully repeal the Caesar Act. As a priority for the Trump administration, I remain committed to this crucial bipartisan goal.” He added, “A united, stable, and prosperous Syria requires representation from and for everyone. This is a bipartisan view in the United States; through dialogue and without violence, we overcome our differences.” He concluded, “The Syrian people have always inspired me, those I met in refugee camps, as well as Syrian Americans defending a free Syria. The Assad regime has declared me an enemy of the state.

He is now in Moscow, and I, by God’s grace, am in Damascus.” Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharrah received the second official delegation from the US Congress in Damascus, consisting of Senator Jeanne Shaheen from New Hampshire, member of the Foreign Relations Committee, and Representative Joe Wilson from South Carolina, member of the Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committees, accompanied by Ambassador Thomas Barrack, Special Envoy of President Donald Trump to Syria. The delegation held meetings with the President in the presence of the Ministers of Defense, Interior, Social Affairs, and Labor, discussing ways to enhance bilateral relations and open new horizons for cooperation. The meeting confirmed the growing support in the US Congress for steps to fully lift US sanctions on Syria, including efforts to repeal the Caesar Act by the end of this year.

The Syrian President expressed appreciation for the efforts in Congress, stressing that these concurrent developments between lifting restrictions and official visits represent a practical and realistic path serving the interests of the Syrian people and enhancing security and stability in the region.
