Al-Akhbar (Dakar) – Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sankoh said, “It is unacceptable to accept the policy of ethnic cleansing and mass massacres committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.” Sankoh added during a joint press conference on Thursday in Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that the latter is “one of the few leaders who stood against this genocide, and we in Senegal will always support you whenever you need it.” He pointed out that his country has chaired since 1975 the UN committee concerned with the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. For his part, the Turkish president praised Senegal’s positions against the mass massacres committed by Israel in Gaza, which are positions that should be emulated by all countries. Erdoğan added that Senegal “extended a helping hand and did not turn its back on our Palestinian brothers.
It also always supports the initiatives we launched at the United Nations.” He emphasized that the struggle “will continue until holding accountable everyone involved in committing mass massacres and using starvation as a weapon against our people in Gaza.” Sankoh began a five-day visit to Turkey during which several cooperation agreements between the two countries were signed, and the visit is expected to witness talks with a number of Turkish officials.
