Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shar discussed the developments in Syria and the region with the US special envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack, in Damascus on Monday, according to a statement from the Syrian president’s office. This meeting follows Barrack’s discussions on the Syrian and Lebanese situations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel yesterday. Syrian and Israeli officials are engaged in US-mediated talks aimed at easing the conflict in southern Syria.
