Smotrich stated, “The American administration supports us in the decision to eliminate the idea of establishing a Palestinian state. Imposing sovereignty in the West Bank will prevent the establishment of a Palestinian terrorist state that seeks to destroy us. We will not allow the establishment of a Palestinian state no matter the challenges.”

He added, “Imposing sovereignty on the West Bank is a realistic step to confront the political attack on Israel. We will eradicate the Palestinian Authority if it dares to raise its head and harm us. Imposing sovereignty on the West Bank is a historic turning point, and if the Prime Minister takes this step, he will enter history. Our goal is to completely eliminate the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state.”

The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth considered that “Smotrich wants the Palestinian Authority to continue managing the lives of those who will remain in what will be left of the West Bank territories.”

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry responded to Smotrich’s statements.

It said, “Smotrich’s statements are incitement against the Palestinian Authority and the rights of our people to their homeland.”
