His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, issued an Amiri decree establishing and organizing the Sharjah Family and Community Council. The decree states the creation of a council concerned with family and community affairs in the emirate called the ‘Sharjah Family and Community Council,’ which enjoys legal personality and the necessary legal capacity to achieve its goals and exercise its competencies. The council aims to assist the ruler in organizing family and community affairs. The council is headed by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, supported by an executive office. The council’s headquarters is in Sharjah city, with the possibility of branches in other areas.

The council focuses on nurturing and empowering families and communities, supporting women and children, and enhancing national identity through strategic policies, coordination of affiliated entities, funding humanitarian initiatives locally and globally, raising awareness about child protection, and fostering family stability. It also promotes women’s roles in sports and economic and social empowerment, develops children’s and youth’s skills, and embraces talents. The council replaces the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and restructures affiliated departments. Sheikha Jawaher emphasized the council’s establishment as a response to life changes requiring deeper focus on individual development and societal roles, highlighting the ongoing investment in human development and the positive outcomes achieved in Sharjah.
