The Embassy of the Republic of India in Kuwait celebrated the 79th anniversary of India’s independence with over three thousand members of the Indian community attending. The Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, laid a wreath at the Indian Martyrs’ Memorial “Shilavalakam” and at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, then raised the Indian national flag and the national anthem was played. On this occasion, Swaika read the speech of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, highlighting the country’s achievements over 78 years and urging continued hard work to make India a developed nation by 2047. He also reviewed the main points of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech from the Red Fort in New Delhi on Independence Day, emphasizing government successes and the launch of the “Sandoor” operation to combat cross-border terrorism, stressing the importance of moving towards “self-reliant India” by supporting local products.
The ambassador confirmed that relations between India and Kuwait are at one of their best stages in contemporary history, noting the fruitful outcomes of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kuwait in December 2024 and the continuous support of the Kuwaiti leadership to enhance bilateral partnership. He expressed appreciation for the role of Indian community associations in Kuwait, which contribute to strengthening popular relations and enhancing India’s cultural presence, affirming that the embassy will always be a “second home” for the community members.
