President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid reaffirmed Iraq’s steadfast position supporting the Palestinian cause and its firm rejection of all forms of aggression and violations, emphasizing the need for international community action to enable the Palestinian people to fully exercise their rights to establish an independent state.
Rashid received at Baghdad Palace the heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions accredited to Iraq, stressing that the country’s stability on security, political, and economic levels has helped direct efforts towards reconstruction, infrastructure development, and providing support and facilitation for investment projects in various fields.
He emphasized that the parliamentary elections will be held on their scheduled date, with the Presidency closely monitoring the commission’s preparations to conduct free and fair elections, urging broad citizen participation to elect their representatives to the Council of Representatives.
Rashid highlighted Iraq’s pride in its democratic experience since 2003 and the peaceful transfer of power, noting the Presidency’s role in releasing more than 23,000 detainees whose sentences have ended, as well as following up on committees implementing the general amnesty law.
He reiterated Iraq’s keenness to build positive friendship and cooperation relations with all countries in the region and the world, serving common interests and preserving national sovereignty, expressing appreciation for the efforts of ambassadors to strengthen relations and develop cooperation and coordination between Iraq and their countries, which helps reinforce friendship ties and consolidate regional and international security and stability.
The meeting discussed several international issues of mutual interest, foremost the Palestinian cause, where Rashid confirmed Iraq’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and total rejection of the aggression they face, calling on the international community to take a firm stance to end all violations against Palestinians and grant them full rights to establish their independent state.
The heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions praised the importance of such meetings that clarify Iraq’s vision on various local and international issues, wishing Iraq success in the upcoming elections to strengthen the democratic experience and fulfill the aspirations of the Iraqi people, expressing thanks and appreciation to the President for his keenness to strengthen friendship and joint cooperation.
Rashid also stressed Iraq’s role in easing tensions on international issues, meeting with Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to review the political and security situation in the country, emphasizing the importance of consolidating diplomatic relations with countries worldwide to serve Iraq’s supreme interests and support joint cooperation paths to enhance regional and global security and stability, appreciating Iraq’s pivotal positive role in easing tensions and establishing foundations for peace, understanding, and dialogue on international issues.
