The “Sahab Al-Khair” initiative, launched by the Sharjah Charity Association in cooperation with Air Arabia in 2006, has played a prominent role in implementing dozens of charitable and humanitarian projects. Envelopes placed on passenger seats turned into bridges of goodwill extending from the UAE to various continents, carrying travelers’ donations and transforming them into developmental and relief projects that deeply impact people’s daily needs.
Mohamed Rashid Bin Bayat, Vice Chairman of the Association’s Board, stated that over two decades, the “Sahab Al-Khair” initiative collected 10.2 million AED in donations from travelers. These funds were fully converted into tangible humanitarian projects implemented in more than 25 countries through integrated programs covering health, education, water, and seasonal relief.
The initiative contributed to building and operating numerous clinics in Yemen, Egypt, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Turkey, and Tajikistan, with costs exceeding five million AED. Specialized medical campaigns were conducted to treat heart and eye diseases and screen for cancer, valued at 400,000 AED, alongside the purchase of modern medical devices supporting hospitals and providing treatment to hundreds of patients at a total cost exceeding 900,000 AED.
Projects included building complete schools in India, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Egypt, as well as classrooms, training centers, and vocational institutes.
The initiative also helped dig dozens of surface and electric wells in India, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and Niger, providing clean water to thousands of families.
Additionally, it provided Eid clothing for orphans in more than 20 countries, blankets, and winter clothes for those in need in areas affected by floods, severe cold, natural disasters, and humanitarian crises.
