Kiev, October 10, 2025 (WAL) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today, Friday, that Russia used more than 450 drones and 30 missiles in an attack launched across the country targeting the energy sector.

He added that there is a power outage in nine regions, stressing the need for partners to provide support by supplying his country with air defense systems and enforcing sanctions.

Zelensky called on his country’s allies, including the United States, to take concrete measures after Russia launched a wide missile and drone attack on Ukrainian energy facilities.

Ukrainian officials said Russia launched a major attack on the center of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, causing a fire in a multi-story residential building and targeting energy sites early this morning, leading to power outages in parts of the city.

The governor of Zaporizhzhia city in southeastern Ukraine said drones and missiles caused damage to 12 residential buildings, resulting in the death of a seven-year-old child and injuring four others.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy announced that a large number of consumers were deprived of electricity in Kyiv and surrounding areas, as well as in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Odessa.
