Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Al Ahly player, apologized to his club’s fans following the 2-0 loss against Pyramids in the fifth round of the Premier League.
Zizo said on his Instagram account: “I know this is a time for the gloaters, especially since this is a rare opportunity that will not happen again, God willing, and therefore I felt obliged to write.”
He added: “Apology is a duty on us; we all felt guilty and negligent towards you in the recent results, which were not up to your ambitions nor befitting the stature of our great club. We first failed ourselves, then you who never withheld support and loyalty.”
He continued: “I admit that what was presented does not suit Al Ahly’s spirit nor your honorable history. What happened left a deep wound in our souls as it did in yours with pain and anger. But great teams are not measured by the setbacks they face, but by their ability to rise again, and Al Ahly has never known surrender.”
He concluded: “I promise you that this shortcoming will not happen again, and the upcoming phase will be a practical response worthy of you, restoring Al Ahly to its natural position at the top, competing for every title, always and forever a source of pride.”
He ended: “Wearing the Al Ahly jersey is a great trust, and I swear to exert all my effort and sweat to be worthy of this trust and to fulfill my duty towards you, the support and backing in all circumstances. God willing, we will meet at the end of the season celebrating all the championships.”
