The archaeological sites around Luxor are witnessing a significant influx of tourists with the arrival of the winter tourism season, especially in temples and tombs east and west of the governorate. There is a large turnout of European tourists from Poland, Luxembourg, France, and Spain, along with a notable increase in tourists from Southeast Asian countries, with expectations of further growth in the coming days as the winter season progresses.

Luxor city is considered Egypt’s premier cultural tourism destination and the main winter tourism hub. It is experiencing a significant rise in hotel occupancy rates and remarkable tourist visits from all over the world, including day-trip tourists from other tourist cities. Reports before the start of the winter season indicate that occupancy rates in both floating and fixed hotels may exceed 85%, driven by tourists from European and Asian nationalities. This great success in cultural tourism in Luxor is attributed to the combined efforts over the past period.

Regarding preparations for the winter tourism season, Engineer Abdel Muttalib Amara, Governor of Luxor, inspected all sites serving global tourists. He checked the horse carriage stands before the season started, including Marhaba Carriage Stand, the carriage stand near Ahmed Al-Najm Mosque adjacent to Luxor Temple, and the carriage stand in the Karnak Temples area.

During the tour, the governor met with several horse carriage drivers, urging them to treat Egyptian and foreign visitors well, adhere to cleanliness and order rules, avoid random parking, and maintain the cleanliness of the carriages, stands, and surrounding streets. He also listened to some of the drivers’ problems and promised to study appropriate solutions.
