Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on Monday that all parties should build on the successes achieved during the Russia-US summit in Alaska, noting that Moscow is actively doing so. Zakharova told the Russian news agency TASS, “Everyone should build on the successes and developments achieved in Alaska. That is my belief, and that is what everyone should focus on now. As you see, Russia continues to do this actively.” It is worth mentioning that Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the summit with US President Donald Trump that the talks focused on resolving the Ukrainian crisis. He also called for turning a new page in bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington and resuming cooperation. Putin invited Trump to visit Moscow and pointed to progress in the negotiation process, clarifying that the two sides did not agree on all issues.

The Russia-US summit between Putin and Trump was held on August 15 in the US state of Alaska, where the two sides discussed several issues including the war in Ukraine, economic relations, and international security files.
