Israeli occupation forces shelled the cities of Khan Younis and Gaza early Friday morning, despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement.

A correspondent for the Palestinian News Agency reported that the occupation forces shelled the Katiba area in central Khan Younis city, southern Gaza Strip, with several artillery shells, coinciding with drone flights over the city.

He added that occupation aircraft carried out a violent airstrike in central Khan Younis early morning.

East Gaza City also witnessed an airstrike by occupation aircraft, artillery shelling, and gunfire from helicopters.

Late last night, the occupation government approved a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu’s office said the government officially approved US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza.

It added that the government agreed on the main outlines for the release of all hostages.

With the occupation government’s announcement of approval, the ceasefire came into effect.

President Trump announced Thursday night the agreement to implement the first phase of his Middle East peace plan, which includes ending the war on Gaza, Israeli withdrawal, humanitarian aid entry, and prisoner exchange.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces have committed genocide crimes in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of more than 67,000 citizens and injuring about 170,000 others, most of them children and women, with famine claiming the lives of 460 citizens including 154 children.
