UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his support for efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip, release Israeli detainees held by Hamas, and increase aid deliveries to the area.
Starmer said in a speech at the Labour Party conference held in Liverpool, as reported by the BBC on Tuesday: “I welcome the new American initiative to bring peace to the East,” adding, “I strongly support all efforts to stop the fighting, release all detainees, and urgently increase aid access to Gaza.”
The British Prime Minister urged all parties to work together to turn this initiative into reality, aiming to revive hope for a two-state solution where Israel lives safely and securely alongside the long-awaited state of Palestine, saying: “The state our country now recognizes.”
Yesterday, the White House revealed details of the Trump plan to end the war in Gaza. The plan calls for launching a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to reach a political horizon ensuring peaceful and prosperous coexistence, emphasizing that Israel will neither occupy nor annex Gaza, and no party will be forced to leave.
