Beijing, August 31, 2025 (WAL) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in the coastal city of Tianjin, northern China, that India and China have agreed to resume direct flights after more than five years of suspension, and that they have reached an agreement on border management.
Modi pointed to a positive trend in relations with China, stating that there is a commitment to developing relations between the two countries based on trust and respect.
Modi is visiting China for the first time in seven years to attend the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting. The meeting includes Russian President Vladimir Putin and leaders from Central Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East, showcasing strong solidarity among the Global South.
