As part of his tour today in Menoufia Governorate, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, accompanied by several officials, inspected the “One-Day” food market in the city of Ashmoun.
Major General Ibrahim Abu Lemon, Governor of Menoufia, pointed out the governorate’s keenness to expand the organization of “One-Day” markets in various centers and villages, aiming to ensure the availability of basic goods to citizens in their locations, supporting the state’s efforts to increase product supply and provide them at reduced prices. He confirmed ongoing full coordination with the Chamber of Commerce to achieve price stability and enhance market monitoring.
At the beginning of his tour at the market, the Prime Minister listened to a briefing from Osama Mostafa Ezz El-Din, Director of the Supply Directorate in the governorate, who explained that the market is established on an area of about 300 square meters on Al-Thawra Street in front of the Military Industrial Secondary School in Ashmoun district. He pointed out that the goal of establishing these markets is to provide basic food items such as oil, rice, sugar, and others at reduced prices to ease the burden on citizens and confront waves of inflation.
The supply director added that the number of “One-Day” markets across Menoufia Governorate has reached 16 markets held periodically.
During the tour, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and his companions inspected various sales outlets inside the market and reviewed the variety of products and their prices, which included rice, pasta, oil, lentils, fava beans, ghee, flour, dairy products, vegetables, detergents, canned goods, and other basic commodities.
Ezz El-Din explained that the exhibitors inside the market represent major private sector companies of traders and suppliers, alongside the General Company for Wholesale Trade, working to supply the market with goods at prices 15% to 30% lower than the market prices, contributing to price balance and ensuring products reach consumers directly from suppliers without intermediaries.
