At the start of the meeting, Dr. El-Sobky welcomed the Russian delegation, emphasizing the deep relations between Egypt and Russia across various fields and praising the cooperation history dating back to the 1960s.
He explained that the meeting reflects the implementation of political leadership directives to open new horizons for cooperation with Russia in the health sector, based on strong ties between the two countries’ leaderships. He noted that the current time is a golden opportunity to attract Russian investments to Egypt, the gateway to Africa and the Middle East.
The healthcare chief discussed cooperation with the CEO of ROSATOM to establish an integrated international center for tumor diagnosis and treatment using nuclear medicine and advanced radiotherapy as part of the second phase of comprehensive health insurance. The project is expected to be a nucleus for future expansion in this field and represents a promising investment in advanced health services.
He added that the project aims to direct health screening programs for Arab and African countries according to their needs, alongside producing medical radioactive isotopes using advanced technology.
El-Sobky also discussed cooperation with the Russian company POLYMED to enhance mobile healthcare services supported by artificial intelligence, focusing on periodic check-ups, home care, and door-to-door campaigns to ensure advanced healthcare reaches every citizen.
He confirmed that technology transfer and localization of advanced Russian expertise in nuclear medicine and radiotherapy, integrating them into the Authority’s protocols after review by the medical advisory council, is a top priority. This includes twinning with major health institutions, training and qualifying human resources, and applying best global practices to build an integrated and sustainable health system.
Alexey Yakunin, Russia’s commercial representative in Egypt, thanked the healthcare authority for the warm reception and fruitful cooperation, inviting Dr. El-Sobky and the Authority’s leaders to attend the “Nuclear Day” events in Russia to explore the latest technological applications in medicine and life sciences.
