Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, head of the General Authority for Healthcare and supervisor of the comprehensive health insurance project, announced the launch of a pediatric physiotherapy clinic at the Al-Awamia Family Medicine Center, one of the primary healthcare centers under the authority in Luxor Governorate. The clinic was equipped at a cost exceeding 150,000 Egyptian pounds, continuing the operation of pediatric physiotherapy clinics in governorates applying the comprehensive health insurance system to provide integrated therapeutic and rehabilitation services to beneficiaries. The service is now available in five centers: Sheikh Zayed Family Medicine Center in Ismailia, Bilal Bin Rabah Family Medicine Center in Port Said, Basiliya Qibli Family Medicine Unit in Aswan, Kom Ombo Child Care Center in Aswan, and finally Al-Awamia Family Medicine Center in Luxor. Al-Awamia center has provided over 326,500 medical services and 54,000 comprehensive examination services since its inception, serving more than 33,500 individuals with 8,995 family files.

The addition of the physiotherapy department enhances integration between primary and therapeutic care services and reduces financial and effort burdens on Egyptian families. Services at the center include family medicine clinics, dental clinic, specialized clinics (women, internal medicine, pediatrics), pharmacy and medication dispensing, laboratory, radiology (regular and ultrasound), family planning, vaccinations, pregnancy follow-up, comprehensive examination, reception, and emergency services, in addition to the newly launched physiotherapy services. The authority continues to expand and develop primary healthcare services to ensure health equity and sustainability, with primary care centers and units becoming the strongest arm to achieve integrated healthcare for beneficiaries of the comprehensive health insurance system within Egypt’s Vision 2030.
