His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, discussed various aspects of bilateral relations, especially economic and developmental, and ways to enhance them within the framework of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the two countries.
During the meeting held today at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Highness the President welcomed the Australian Prime Minister, affirming the strong and evolving UAE-Australia relations over the past decades, particularly in future economy, investment, renewable energy, sustainability, education, and other sectors that represent developmental priorities for both countries.
His Highness the President stated that the relations between the UAE and Australia are not limited to political and economic aspects but also extend to cultural and educational fields, serving as a cultural bridge for mutual understanding between their peoples.
The meeting also touched on several regional and international issues of common interest. In this context, His Highness expressed appreciation for Australia’s recognition of the Palestinian state, emphasizing that this stance reflects awareness of the foundations required to achieve peace in the region, foremost among them the establishment of the Palestinian state based on the “two-state solution” principle.
For his part, His Excellency Anthony Albanese praised the development witnessed in the relations between the UAE and Australia, affirming the commitment to continue enhancing and advancing them.
Both sides expressed keenness to continue achieving the goals of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement signed last year, looking forward to it contributing to a qualitative leap in their economic relations.
They also confirmed their mutual interest in strengthening developmental partnerships and investing all available opportunities in this regard for the benefit of development and prosperity in both countries.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President, several ministers and senior officials in the UAE, as well as the delegation accompanying the Australian Prime Minister.
