Several Arab countries and organizations extended their condolences to Qatar over the death of three diplomats from the Qatari Amiri Diwan in a traffic accident in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
This was announced through official statements issued by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Hamas movement.
Egypt
Egypt expressed its condolences and sympathy to Qatar for the victims of the accident. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the sisterly State of Qatar, its government and people, for the victims of the painful traffic accident that occurred in Sharm El-Sheikh and resulted in the death of several members of the Qatari Amiri Diwan and injuries to others.”
Egypt affirmed its full solidarity with Qatar in this painful event, according to the statement.
In this context, the Egyptian Embassy in Qatar said in a statement: “Ambassador Walid Fahmy El-Feki, Egypt’s ambassador in Doha, and all members of the Egyptian embassy in Doha extend their deepest condolences for the victims of the tragic traffic accident involving the dear Qatari delegation in Sharm El-Sheikh.”
It added: “The ambassador and embassy members express their sincere condolences to the leadership and the brotherly Qatari people, praying to God Almighty to have mercy on the deceased and admit them to His vast gardens, and to grant patience and solace to their families and all Qatari brothers.”
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia also expressed its condolences to Qatar over the death of the diplomats. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on the American platform “X”: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the government and people of the sisterly State of Qatar, on the death of several members of the Amiri Diwan in a traffic accident they suffered on the road leading to the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt, while performing their work duties.”
Kuwait
Kuwait expressed its condolences to Qatar over the victims of the accident through a telegram from the Emir of the country, Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad.
The Kuwaiti News Agency “KUNA” said that the Emir of the country, Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Crown Prince Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah sent telegrams of condolences to the Emir of Qatar “for the victims of the unfortunate traffic accident that occurred in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt.”
Bahrain
Bahrain expressed its condolences to Qatar over the victims of the accident through a condolence telegram from the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The Bahraini News Agency said the king sent a telegram of condolences and sympathy to the Emir of Qatar “on the death of several diplomats from the Qatari delegation in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, in the unfortunate and painful accident they were exposed to.”
It added that the Bahraini monarch expressed in the telegram “his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his brother His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar, the families and relatives of the deceased, and the brotherly Qatari people.”
In this context, the Crown Prince of Bahrain and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa sent condolence telegrams on the death of the diplomats to the Emir of Qatar, his deputy Abdullah bin Hamad, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, according to the agency.
Lebanon
Lebanon also offered condolences to Qatar over the death of the diplomats through phone calls from Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to the Prime Minister of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman.
The official Lebanese News Agency said Salam called his Qatari counterpart, “offering condolences to him, the families of the victims, and the brotherly Qatari people for the victims of the tragic traffic accident that claimed the lives of Qatari diplomats while they were on their way to participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit.”
In a separate statement, the agency said the president made a phone call to the Qatari prime minister to offer condolences on the death of the diplomats.
It added: “President Aoun expressed his sadness for the painful incident, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured who were also hurt in the accident.”
Hamas Movement
Hamas also expressed its condolences to Qatar over the death of its diplomats in the accident. The movement said in a statement: “We extend our sincere condolences and sympathy to the sisterly State of Qatar, its Emir, government, and people, for the death of three diplomats within the Qatari delegation in the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip, following a tragic accident in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt.”
It added: “We express our absolute solidarity with the sisterly State of Qatar and the families of the deceased and injured in this painful accident, and we pray to God Almighty to protect the sisterly State of Qatar and its noble people from all harm and evil.”
Early Sunday, the Qatari Embassy in Cairo announced the death of three members of the Qatari Amiri Diwan in a traffic accident in Sharm El-Sheikh.
It explained that the accident also resulted in injuries to two others, confirming that it immediately followed up with the concerned Egyptian authorities and that the deceased and injured would be transported to Doha on a Qatari plane today, Sunday.
On Thursday, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas reached an agreement on the first phase of his ceasefire and prisoner exchange plan, following indirect negotiations between the two parties in Sharm El-Sheikh, with the participation of Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, under American supervision.
Sharm El-Sheikh will host on Monday an international summit co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his American counterpart Donald Trump, with the participation of leaders from more than 20 countries aiming to end the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
