The United Arab Emirates celebrates “World Mental Health Day” on October 10th, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about mental health as an integral part of overall health and highlighting the role of national institutions in spreading the culture of psychological support and preventing emotional disorders and trauma.

In this context, the “Dubai Women and Children Care Foundation” launched a comprehensive digital campaign and guide on its social media platforms under the slogan “Men’s Mental Health,” aiming to raise awareness about mental health and emphasize the importance of family and community support, highlighting the man’s role in family stability and societal balance.

The campaign affirms that a man’s awareness of his mental health and the support he receives from those around him makes him a caring father, a balanced partner, and an active member contributing to building a balanced family and a safer, healthier society.

It also highlighted key factors affecting men’s mental health, such as stereotypical images of masculinity, childhood trauma, weak family and community support, work and economic pressures, along with false stereotypes that reinforce stigma like “men don’t cry” or “asking for help is weakness.”

The foundation stressed that caring for men’s mental health is an essential necessity that positively reflects on the family and society, and breaking these stereotypes helps protect men from psychological pressures and disorders, enabling them to perform their family and social roles with awareness and balance.

At the same time, the foundation issued a digital guide titled “Men’s Mental Health Guide Through Life Stages,” aiming to raise community awareness of men’s mental health importance at various life stages and to enhance understanding and support at family and community levels.

Sheikha Al Mansoori, Acting Director General, confirmed that the foundation pays great attention to psychological treatment and support programs within its integrated services, including specialized teams of psychologists and social workers providing therapy sessions for cases affected by violence, abuse, or psychological trauma, in an environment that respects privacy and complete confidentiality.
