The Wall Street Journal revealed that the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” informed the Israeli entity that it holds 20 hostages alive and is ready to start releasing them today, Sunday.
The newspaper reported this morning that the message sent by Hamas through Arab intermediaries is the first time the movement confirms having 20 Israeli detainees alive.
According to an Israeli official, the army is preparing to receive the detainees early Sunday night, although it expects the handover likely on Monday, coinciding with US President Donald Trump’s visit to Egypt.
Under the agreement mediated by President Trump, which was concluded before the end of last week, Hamas will release all the hostages it holds.
The Israeli occupation believes that up to 20 detainees are still alive in Gaza, alongside the bodies of about 28 others.
Hamas informed the intermediaries and the Israeli entity that it does not know the location of some of the deceased hostages’ bodies and will face difficulty meeting the 72-hour deadline set by Trump’s plan for their delivery.
Israeli intelligence agencies reported that Hamas does not know the location of all the bodies, and Tel Aviv acknowledged that retrieving the bodies will likely take longer.
A few days ago, Hebrew Channel 12 reported the formation of a multinational force to search for the locations of the deceased prisoners, in case Hamas declares its inability to locate them.
A source familiar with the matter told the newspaper that the task force will provide heavy equipment for tasks such as digging or demolishing buildings to reach the bodies of the dead.
