The White House revealed on Monday the plan of U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip, which includes Trump chairing a committee overseeing the transitional phase in the area. The plan promises full and immediate aid delivery to Gaza upon Hamas’s acceptance of the agreement, while provisions, including aid expansion, will be implemented in areas described as “terror-free” if Hamas delays or rejects the proposal.

It states that the United States will initiate a dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful and prosperous coexistence. The White House said Israel will neither occupy nor annex Gaza, and once all hostages are released within 72 hours, Israel will free 250 prisoners serving life sentences, in addition to 1,700 Gaza residents detained after October 7, 2023. The plan also confirms that the Israeli army will withdraw based on criteria and timelines related to disarmament agreed upon by the army, Israeli security forces, guarantors, and the United States. Moreover, “no one will be forced to leave Gaza.”

Following the announcement, Trump made statements at a joint press conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, thanking several countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan. He added that the plan includes the immediate disarmament of Hamas and destruction of its military infrastructure, warning the movement that if it rejects the agreement, Netanyahu will have full support to do what is necessary. Trump also emphasized that his Gaza plan “aims at more than just ending the war in the Strip.” He said, “The goal is to resume a broader push for peace in the region.” The White House also announced that Netanyahu apologized to his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani for the Israeli attack on Doha during a trilateral phone call involving Trump.
