Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani announced that the principles presented yesterday by US President Donald Trump are part of a plan that requires detailed discussion and clarification on how to implement it.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani explained in statements to Al Jazeera that the plan is still in its early stages and needs development and clarification, especially regarding the mechanisms for Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
The Qatari Prime Minister confirmed that his country handed over President Trump’s plan concerning Gaza to the Hamas negotiating delegation during a meeting held yesterday in Doha, noting that Hamas dealt responsibly and promised to study the plan.
He emphasized that a final response requires internal consensus among Palestinian factions, adding that the proposed plan includes a main goal of ending the war but still needs further clarifications and details that require negotiation.
He called on all parties to consider the plan constructively and seize the available opportunity to end the war, affirming that Qatar’s main focus currently is to end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, including stopping killing, displacement, and famine.
He added that Arab and Islamic countries, including Egypt and Turkey, are making great efforts to support the Palestinians and enable them to remain on their land and reach a two-state solution, noting that these countries would welcome participation in supporting the Palestinians if the plan is accepted.
