Seha, a company affiliated with Pure Health Group, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, launched yesterday the breast cancer awareness campaign under the slogan “Pink October – A Month for Her,” which will continue until October 14 at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, as part of the “Year of the Community” events.
The campaign aims to raise breast cancer awareness and encourage women to undergo early screening, considered one of the most important factors for prevention and treatment, in addition to promoting public health and spreading the culture of women’s health care within the community.
The campaign kicked off with the “Seha Pink Run,” which saw the participation of more than 2,000 runners of different age groups.
The activities included the opening of the “Pink Community Village,” which featured a variety of awareness activities and programs over three days.
The campaign also provided a Mammogram Truck service to facilitate early detection for women, in addition to a blood donation truck to support health initiatives and promote community giving culture.
The campaign will include specialized awareness sessions, including a panel discussion with health experts, a session on healthy nutrition, a session on mental health, a session dedicated to breast cancer survivors, and an awareness session about the role of clinical trials in treating the disease.
Seha confirmed that October is an important opportunity to renew awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection, which is one of the most common cancers among women worldwide.
The Protocols and Public Relations Department, in coordination with the Medical Services Department, organized an awareness initiative about breast cancer coinciding with Pink October, in cooperation with Al Rahma Association and the “We Are All Police” volunteer system, at the Martyr Theater at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and the Al Murabba Hall at Saif Bin Zayed Academy for Police and Security Sciences.
The initiative included awareness workshops for female employees, focusing on enhancing mental health, raising awareness about various diseases, the importance of early detection, prevention methods, risk factors, and the importance of psychological and social support for patients, in addition to highlighting inspiring success stories of women who overcame the disease with determination and positivity, quitting smoking, and understanding its risks.
It also included introductory presentations and free medical examinations provided by representatives of Customer Happiness Centers from various health institutions, covering key guidelines related to prevention methods.
The event is part of a series of health initiatives implemented by Abu Dhabi Police throughout the year, reinforcing its mission to spread health and community awareness.
An event was also held at the Al Ain Officers Club, in cooperation with the Emirates Cancer Society, the Department of Health, the Regional Blood Bank, Tawam Hospital, and Burjeel Holding Group, attended by Dr. Salem Mohammed Bin Rakkad Al Amri, Chairman of the Emirates Cancer Society Board, along with several officers and female employees.
The event included an accompanying exhibition with several entities, hospitals, and medical clinics, where medical examinations were conducted and guidance on prevention methods and the importance of mammogram screening was provided.
The Emirates Cancer Society also participated in a breast cancer awareness march, in cooperation with Tawam Hospital and several health, community entities, and volunteer teams, with the attendance of 450 participants.
The event, which toured the Al Neyadat area, was attended by representatives of participating entities, volunteers, and community members.
Dr. Salem Bin Rakkad emphasized the importance of organizing such initiatives that contribute to raising awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection, supporting national efforts to promote public health, and encouraging healthy lifestyles, noting that the society’s participation in the march reaffirms its commitment to its community role in prevention and awareness.
