Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, announced reaching an agreement to end the war and aggression against the Palestinian people, which includes the start of implementing a permanent ceasefire in the Strip.

He added that the world stood astonished at the sacrifices and steadfastness shown by the people of Gaza during the war, affirming that they “fought a war the world has never seen before, facing the enemy’s tyranny, brutality, and massacres with unwavering steadfastness.”

In a press conference, al-Hayya said the movement dealt responsibly with the US president’s plan and provided a response that serves the interests of the Palestinian people and spares their blood, confirming that the agreement includes the entry of humanitarian aid, opening the Rafah crossing, and prisoner exchange.

He explained that the terms include the release of 250 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment and 1,700 prisoners from the Gaza Strip, noting that the movement received guarantees from mediators and the US administration confirming that the war has completely ended.

Al-Hayya added that the movement will continue working with all national forces to complete the subsequent steps of the agreement, expressing deep appreciation for Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their mediation role, and “great appreciation” for Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran for their support of the Palestinian people and participation in “blood and battle.”
