The military commander in eastern Libya, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has appointed his son, General Saddam Haftar, as his deputy in leading the forces supported by the parliament. This decision comes as part of strengthening the military leadership in the country. The media office of the ‘General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces’ announced this appointment in a post on Facebook, noting that Saddam Haftar, 34 years old, will play an important role in improving the overall performance of the armed forces.
