Advisor Hussein Abu El-Atta, member of the Senate and head of the “Egyptians” party, stated that the Peace Summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s reception of world leaders confirm Egypt’s pivotal role and regional and international standing as a land of peace and a platform for dialogue and crisis resolution.

He added that hosting the summit at such a high level reflects the international community’s confidence in Egypt’s ability to lead decisive diplomatic efforts during major regional crises, especially in the Middle East. The attendance of numerous leaders highlights unprecedented global interest in ending conflicts and enhancing regional stability.

He explained that the summit emphasizes Egypt’s position as a key mediator and guarantor of stability, seeking to open new horizons for regional and international understanding and pushing towards a comprehensive and just peace process. The presence of leaders from the United States, several European and Arab countries reflects this global concern.

He confirmed that President Sisi’s reception of world leaders in Sharm El-Sheikh was not merely protocol but a clear message about Egypt’s seriousness and commitment to regional peace, demonstrating Egypt’s organizational capability and enhancing its image as a safe and leading destination for hosting major international conferences, similar to the COP27 climate conference held in 2022.

The bilateral and group meetings held by President Sisi with participating leaders confirm the strength and depth of Egypt’s relations with various influential regional and global powers, granting Egypt additional leverage in advancing peace paths.

He noted that Sharm El-Sheikh, the city of peace, has once again become a global meeting point shaping new horizons for cooperation and hope in a region that desperately needs it.

Advisor Hussein Abu El-Atta praised President Sisi’s speech at the Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, highlighting its diplomatic firmness and strategic clarity, delivering strong and direct messages to concerned parties and the international community. The speech was not just a welcome but a framework for solution and an appeal to global conscience.

He pointed out President Sisi’s statement that “the Gaza agreement will close a painful chapter in human history,” placing the current crisis in a historic humanitarian context rather than a mere political one. The phrase “painful chapter in human history” carries moral and political responsibility for the parties to end the conflict and directly links the summit’s success to reaching an agreement that closes a chapter of human suffering, raising expectations and pressure for tangible results.

He noted President Sisi’s invitation to former US President Donald Trump to join world leaders calling for peace as a strategic and motivating appeal to the superpower and main mediator, urging Trump to use the full influence of the United States to facilitate the peace process and positioning him as a global peace leader, which imposes greater responsibility on him to push the agreement forward. This invitation reflects recognition of the pivotal role played by the US administration in any regional settlement.

He indicated that President Sisi’s speech was more a roadmap than a protocol speech, based on the logic of just peace, affirming Egypt’s status as a peacemaker who does not change his principles, and pressing on the human conscience and the leadership responsibility of international powers to move towards an agreement that closes a painful chapter in the region’s history.

He also praised President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s decision to award former US President Donald Trump the Nile Necklace in appreciation of his role in supporting peace efforts, explaining that this decision represents a high-level diplomatic and symbolic step that goes beyond personal honor and carries deep political and strategic implications.

He noted that the “Nile Necklace” is the highest Egyptian civilian honor, usually awarded to heads of state or personalities who have provided exceptional distinguished services to the country or humanity. Awarding this medal to an international figure of Trump’s stature gives the decision significant symbolic power and confirms official Egyptian recognition of Trump’s pivotal role in ending the armed conflict in Gaza, a key point in regional and international diplomacy, as well as emphasizing the importance of the Egyptian-American partnership and the role Washington, specifically the Trump administration, played in efforts to calm and stabilize this vital region.

He explained that highlighting Trump’s pivotal role in ending the Gaza war reinforces the official Egyptian narrative about the importance of effective international mediation in achieving peace, noting that this honor attempts to cement this achievement as part of Trump’s record, which may enhance his standing in the global political arena and within the United States, especially as it coincides with the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit aimed at consolidating the truce.
