Ahmed Khaled Mamdouh, Deputy Chairman of the Conference Party, confirmed that the party has officially started preparations to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections through a central operations room, which has so far received more than 124 candidacy applications, issuing 67 candidacy letters distributed across 23 governorates.
Mamdouh explained, during a participation in the program “Parliamentary Street” broadcast on “Extra News” channel, that the party bases its selections on three main pillars: the party’s pre-prepared cadres, former MPs, and natural leaders in the constituencies.
He added that the party pays special attention to representing groups stipulated in the constitution, such as youth, women, and Christians, noting that more than 30% of the party’s candidates for individual seats are women, in a step aimed at enhancing diversity and empowering groups that were traditionally represented only within lists.
Regarding promoting youth, Mamdouh emphasized that the party has long been preparing and qualifying a number of young people to experience the electoral process, confirming that the party will provide them with financial, organizational, and popular support from leaders and former MPs within their constituencies.
He continued: “Global experiences have proven that positive discrimination for groups like youth and women are temporary opportunities, so the Conference Party is keen to create a real ground for them in the political street, working scientifically and progressively to prepare election campaigns for each candidate.”
He pointed out that the party adopts a clear plan at this stage that includes meetings with candidates and building detailed strategies for fieldwork in each constituency, noting that the Conference Party participates in the elections with candidates seeking to be true partners in the new republic, capable of bearing the responsibility of change and facing the regional challenges confronting the Egyptian state.
