MP Atef El-Maghawry, Deputy Chairman of the Tagammu Party, confirmed that the party has started its actual preparations to contest the upcoming House of Representatives elections since the beginning of the year, by contacting the governorates to gather the wishes of members wishing to run, especially under the individual system.

El-Maghawry said, during an intervention on the program “Parliamentary Street” aired on Extra News channel, that the party decided to participate in the upcoming elections within the “National List” alongside a group of other parties, explaining that participation in the unified list comes within the framework of an electoral alliance that does not affect the party’s independence or its positions inside parliament.

He added: “The selection of who represents the Tagammu Party within the list is according to special criteria, because the candidate here does not represent a specific district but rather expresses the party as a whole,” stressing that the party retains its independent agenda inside parliament despite the ideological diversity within the list.

El-Maghawry explained that the previous experience of participation in the Senate showed the party’s ability to be effectively present within an electoral alliance without compromising its political positions, which will be built upon in the upcoming elections.

He concluded his statements by confirming that participation in the National List provides a greater opportunity to represent parties inside parliament while maintaining independence of opinion under the council’s dome.
