The Israeli occupation army began gradually withdrawing its forces in the Gaza Strip to the yellow line, the first withdrawal line from the sector under the plan of US President Donald Trump to end the war, following the Israeli government’s approval early Friday of the agreement, which stipulates an initial Israeli withdrawal concurrent with the release of detainees.

The Israeli site “Walla” reported that the army carried out airstrikes on Gaza simultaneously with the withdrawal, quoting military sources claiming the raids were conducted “to avoid any risk.”

“Walla” stated that the army conducted operations in Gaza City, inside the Beach refugee camp, in the past few hours and began withdrawing towards the yellow line.

Channel 12 reported that three units comprising thousands of Israeli soldiers, part of the “Gideon Vehicles 2” operation, will withdraw from Gaza City.

It also noted that additional forces will leave Rafah, Khan Yunis, and northern Gaza Strip heading outside the sector’s borders.

It added that alongside the partial withdrawal, the Israeli army is preparing to receive Israeli detainees in Gaza from the Red Cross and transfer them to Re’im Hospital.

A spokesperson for the Israeli government said that the ceasefire will come into effect within 24 hours of the cabinet meeting, adding that detainees in Gaza will be released within 72 hours after this period.
