Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced on Wednesday that Russia and the United States have agreed on the date and location of the next round of talks.
She noted, in an interview with Sputnik agency on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, that “the return of Russian diplomatic properties seized in the United States is the only option to fully restore relations with the United States, and Moscow is counting on the return of these properties.”
She added: “The Russian side has prioritized resuming direct flights as soon as possible. This will not only symbolize and embody a growing interaction between the two countries, but more importantly, it will be warmly welcomed by the citizens of both countries. Speaking diplomatically, otherwise, I believe people will feel relieved.”
The 10th Eastern Economic Forum is being held from September 3 to 6 in Vladivostok, at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University.
On Tuesday, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed that a new round of consultations between the Russian and American foreign ministries is scheduled, noting that several issues remain unresolved.
On August 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his American counterpart Donald Trump in Alaska. During talks that lasted nearly three hours, the two leaders discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, chiefly the war in Ukraine and bilateral relations between the two countries.
