Massive destruction in Al-Musaylih (An-Nahar exclusive)

Lebanese Finance Minister Yassin Jaber, on his way to Washington to participate in the World Bank and IMF autumn meetings, affirmed that “the criminal Israeli attack that took place at dawn today on civilians and civil institutions in the Al-Musaylih area will not deter us from our pursuit and determination to provide everything necessary to rebuild what Israel has destroyed and continues to destroy.”

Jaber added that he confirmed this to the Head of the Southern Council after contacting Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri as well as several officials he communicated with on his way to Washington.

He stressed that he will seek “with all representatives of friendly and brotherly countries to Lebanon and all entities capable of financing and providing support, to initiate assistance, hoping to achieve results that can increase funding for the founding fund we launched with the World Bank dedicated to rebuilding what Israel caused in its attacks, aiming to raise its ceiling to one billion dollars.”

He considered that “the response to these attacks can only be through determination to insist on reconstruction, the southern residents’ greater determination to remain on their land, and as a government, we must strengthen their steadfastness. This is the challenge that imposes on us the responsibility to prioritize reconstruction in our work with the help of everyone who wants our country to enjoy stability.”

Jaber tried to contact Prime Minister Nawaf Salam but was unsuccessful as the latter was abroad.
