The day before yesterday was different for job seekers in Bahrain following directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Ministry of Labor to offer three job opportunities to every registered job seeker before the end of this year, setting a clear deadline for achievement.

The news included a statement from His Highness expressing pride in all Bahrainis known for their diligence, dedication, and sincerity at work, highlighting their effective contributions to national development. He pointed out that history bears witness to the high proficiency of Bahrainis, from diving professions to oil discovery, banking, and industries, proving their competence in various work sites and leadership positions. Today, with the growth of telecommunications, IT, and tourism sectors, Bahrainis continue to enhance competitiveness and expand growth horizons.

His words evoke a living national memory with historical dimensions confirming that Bahrainis have always strived diligently for livelihood—from the depths of the sea to the skies, from the diving era to the technology age. The Bahraini citizen remains loyal to the path of hard work, innovation, excellence, and keeps pace with changes in various professional fields.

Statements by the Minister of Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of Labor, Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, clarified the size of opportunities the national economy currently offers, estimated at more than 575,000 jobs, while the number of job seekers is only about 17,000, reflecting the strength and sustainability of the labor market. He affirmed that Bahraini citizens have proven their competence locally, regionally, and globally, noting their active presence in banking, technology, health, medicine, and other sectors.

He stressed the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors, especially with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as the best way to implement the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s directives, contributing to providing suitable job opportunities, helping to professionally upgrade citizens, and enhancing their contribution to sustainable development.

This historic directive requires concerted efforts on three main axes:

    • The Ministry of Labor is required to accelerate offering suitable opportunities according to qualifications and skills.
    • The private sector is invited to positively engage and create opportunities that attract Bahrainis.
    • Job seekers themselves bear the responsibility to develop their capabilities and strive to seize opportunities.

The success of this mission depends on a shared balance involving two integrated parties: the state and the private sector on one side, and the job-seeking citizen on the other. If everyone fulfills their role, Bahrain will achieve a new accomplishment, closing the chapter on job searching and opening a wider horizon for building a more competitive and sustainable future.
