The Dakahlia Governorate has recently witnessed an unprecedented boom in the development of hospitals and healthcare facilities, as part of the state’s plan to upgrade the medical system and provide decent services to citizens in all centers and cities, in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to enhance the infrastructure of the health sector and improve the quality of services provided to the Egyptian citizen.
Dr. Hamouda El-Gazzar, Deputy Minister of Health in Dakahlia, confirmed that the governorate has achieved significant accomplishments in health development this year through comprehensive upgrading and modernization of several hospitals and health units, in addition to introducing new specialties that were not previously available.
He added that the Dakahlia Health Directorate completed the development of several hospitals, including Talkha Central Hospital, Nebroh Hospital, Belqas Hospital, and Sherbin Hospital, alongside the renovation and replacement of several family medicine units under the “Decent Life” initiative, which included 29 units and medical centers with modern engineering specifications and equipment.
El-Gazzar pointed out that new medical services were introduced in 8 hospitals across the governorate, including delicate surgeries in heart, orthopedics, brain, and nerves. He explained that hospitals performed more than 4,800 surgeries in various specialties within just one month, as part of the plan to improve performance in general and central hospitals.
Additionally, 14 physical therapy departments were established and developed in several hospitals and health units to provide rehabilitation and physical therapy services for patients, the elderly, and people with special needs, within the state’s plan to expand free services in the governorates.
In a related context, the “100 Days of Health” campaign continued its work inside hospitals and health units in Dakahlia, providing more than one million free medical services to citizens, including early detection of chronic diseases, women’s health, and the “Light of Life” initiative for treating visual impairment.
The Deputy Minister confirmed that the development plan was not limited to infrastructure only but also included improving administrative and economic performance of hospitals by applying a periodic monitoring system to ensure adherence to treatment protocols and improving the working environment for medical teams.
This development comes within the state’s vision to build a strong and balanced health system that ensures justice in service distribution between urban and rural areas and works to provide integrated healthcare for every citizen, in line with the New Republic.
With this integrated approach, Dakahlia continues to strengthen its position as one of the leading governorates in providing health and medical services, amid citizens’ praise for improved service quality and rapid response, making the governorate’s hospitals a model to be emulated in the development and advancement of the health sector in the Egyptian Delta.
