International reactions followed immediately after US President Donald Trump announced the details of his new plan to end the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, promising that it would bring peace and prosperity to Gaza’s residents without forcing anyone to leave their home or posing a threat to their neighbors, according to his words.

While Trump obtained the approval of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his plan, the White House awaits Hamas’s response. A source familiar with the talks said Egypt and Qatar informed Hamas about the plan, and Hamas negotiators told mediators they would study the plan in good faith and respond.

The foreign ministers of these countries, along with their counterparts from other Arab and Islamic states, confirmed their “readiness to cooperate positively and constructively with the United States and concerned parties to complete the agreement and ensure its implementation, guaranteeing peace, security, and stability for the peoples of the region.”

Before Trump’s announcement on Monday, informed sources said the plan was presented to leaders of Arab and Islamic countries during his meeting with them in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, where they expressed in a joint statement their confidence “in the ability of the US president to find a path to peace” and welcomed his sincere efforts to end the Gaza war.

Italy

Following France and the UK, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed the initiative, considering it a “turning point that could lead to a permanent cessation of fighting.” Her office said in a statement: “The proposal could allow a permanent halt to hostilities, the release of all hostages, and safe and full humanitarian access to Gaza’s population.”

    • Gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army according to a timetable linked to a disarmament process agreed upon with guarantors and Washington.
    • Israel’s release of 250 prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 detainees from Gaza arrested after October 7, 2023.
    • Immediate entry of aid into the sector upon acceptance of the agreement.
    • Provision of a safe corridor for Hamas members wishing to voluntarily leave the sector.
    • Launching direct political dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to reach a settlement ensuring coexistence and peace without annexing Gaza or imposing displacement.
