On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that the Gaza Strip will be rebuilt after the devastating war that lasted more than two years, causing destruction to its infrastructure and collapse of all essential sectors. Meanwhile, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated that Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his efforts to end the war.
The U.S. president explained that he will try to travel to the Middle East to attend the signing of the agreement that will announce the end of this war. Trump said: “We ended the war in Gaza and I believe there will be lasting peace. We will try to head to the region while working on setting the timing.. We will go to Egypt, where the agreement will be officially signed.”
Trump announced that Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip will be released on Monday or Tuesday.
Regarding the recent war with Iran, Trump considered the attack on Iran “important to reach an agreement regarding Gaza,” explaining that Iran wants to work towards peace and that the United States will cooperate with it.
He added that Tehran has acknowledged its support for the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas and the release of hostages.
Sisi to Trump: You Deserve the Nobel Peace Prize
Prior to these statements, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had a phone call with Trump.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency stated that Sisi congratulated Trump on his tireless efforts to stop the war in Gaza, expressing great appreciation for the U.S. president personally and for his keenness to end the war in the Strip.
Trump expressed his great happiness with this historic achievement and his close friendship with Sisi, noting that attention had been focused on Egypt in recent days to follow the developments of the Sharm El-Sheikh negotiations and reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The Egyptian president pointed out that reaching the agreement is a historic achievement, made possible by Trump’s dedication and sincere efforts to achieve peace, affirming that Trump rightfully deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, mentioned that Sisi stressed the necessity to move forward with implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza at all stages, highlighting the importance of Trump’s support and sponsorship of the implementation.
