US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that he truly believes a settlement between Russia and Ukraine is possible.
Trump added, “I think everything will end with a solution and settlement of the situation between Russia and Ukraine. We will solve this matter.”
Last Monday, Trump announced that he had “almost made his decision” regarding supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles but wants to understand how Kyiv intends to use them.
In late September, US Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the White House administration is discussing the possibility of delivering Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, but the final decision rests with Trump. Meanwhile, Keith Kellogg, Trump’s special envoy, clarified that no decision has been made yet on this matter.
According to The Telegraph, Volodymyr Zelensky requested these missiles during his recent meeting with the US president. Axios reported that this was the only point in Kyiv’s request that Trump rejected, although he expressed support for other items.
The Wall Street Journal mentioned that Trump is open to lifting restrictions on the use of long-range US weapons to strike deep inside Russia but did not make any direct commitment to reviewing current restrictions.
During a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, President Vladimir Putin said that the use of Tomahawk missiles by Ukrainian forces is impossible without the involvement of US military personnel. He noted that the decision to supply them would undermine positive trends in Russian-American relations.
