The U.S. president indicated that the Gaza peace agreement “might be the greatest achievement I have ever been involved in.”

President Donald Trump expressed enthusiasm for the international conference to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday to support the peace agreement, noting that the diversity of participating countries reflects a unified global stance on his plan.

In an interview with Axios aboard Air Force One en route to Israel, he said he did not know why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was absent from the summit, explaining that the Egyptian side prepared the guest list, and described Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s attendance as “a good thing.”

Trump pointed out that he would not have been able to reach the Gaza agreement without his decision to attack Iranian nuclear facilities last June.

He said that “weakening Iran made Hamas more willing to make concessions, and removing the dark cloud overshadowing Iran’s nuclear program allowed the Arab and Islamic countries participating in the negotiations to rally around achieving the Gaza agreement.”

Furthermore, the U.S. president said the Gaza peace agreement “might be the greatest achievement I have ever been involved in.”

Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech before the Israeli Knesset on Monday morning and said his message to the Israeli people would be: “Love and peace forever.”

During his short visit to Israel, Trump will meet with the families of prisoners and Netanyahu.

Meanwhile, he mentioned watching parts of a large rally held in Tel Aviv on Saturday in support of the prisoners’ families, attended by his daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner, and envoy Steve Witkoff.

Trump added that he spoke to them after the rally, saying: “It was an amazing demonstration, really something great, everyone was happy.”

He noted that one of the scenes that sparked controversy online was the crowd cheering when his name was mentioned, contrasted with boos when Netanyahu’s name was called.
