US President Donald Trump announced via the Truth Social platform that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of the Gaza agreement proposed by the United States, which allows for the release of all Israeli hostages.

Trump stated on Truth Social, “I am honored to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our peace plan.” He added, “This means that all hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed line as initial steps toward a strong, lasting, and sustainable peace.”

He said, “It is a great day for the Arab and Islamic worlds, for Israel and all neighboring countries, and for the United States. We thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey who worked with us to achieve this historic and unprecedented event. All appreciation to the peacemakers!”

The US president was holding a roundtable meeting with conservative influencers to discuss the Antifa movement on Wednesday when Secretary of State Marco Rubio caught his attention from a corner of the Blue Room in the White House, saying he had news for the president but would have to wait until the media left. He then handed him a handwritten note on White House letterhead stating, “You must approve a post on Truth Social soon to announce the agreement first.” This prompted Trump to declare, “We are very close to reaching an agreement in the Middle East.” The meeting with the influencers had been ongoing for about two hours when Rubio first approached, and the president invited him in, whispering a few words before handing over the note.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “With God’s help, we will bring them all home,” referring to the Israeli hostages held in Gaza, shortly after President Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of the Gaza agreement. Netanyahu made these comments in a brief statement.

He said he would call the government to meet today to approve the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, adding in a statement, “Today is a great day for Israel.”

Later, the Israeli Prime Minister’s office said it spoke with Trump and exchanged congratulations on the “historic achievement” of signing the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which includes the release of all hostages. The office stated that both sides agreed to continue their close cooperation. Netanyahu invited Trump to deliver a speech before the Knesset.

Hamas announced reaching an agreement to end the Gaza war, Israeli withdrawal, aid entry, and prisoner exchange. The movement called on Trump, the guarantor countries of the agreement, and various Arab, Islamic, and international parties to compel Israel to fulfill all the agreement’s obligations.

In an official statement, Hamas said, “After responsible and serious negotiations conducted by the movement and Palestinian resistance factions regarding President Trump’s proposal in Sharm El-Sheikh, aiming to stop the genocide war against our Palestinian people and the withdrawal of occupation from Gaza; Hamas announces reaching an agreement to end the war on Gaza, the withdrawal of occupation, the entry of aid, and prisoner exchange.” The statement added, “The sacrifices of our people will not be in vain, and we will remain committed to the pledge, not abandoning our national rights until freedom, independence, and self-determination.”

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari announced today that all terms and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement have been agreed upon, leading to the end of the war, release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian detainees, and entry of aid. He mentioned on “X” that details will be announced later.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed the announcement of an agreement to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages held in the area.
